Many Languages One Voice (MLOV), was founded in 2010, and our mission is to foster the leadership and greater civic participation of immigrants and refugees who do not speak English as a primary language. We believe an actively engaged community that challenges existing inequities by dominant power is key to achieving systemic change. Thus, we support our members’ leadership and amplify the voice of our most vulnerable members to find solutions to the systemic racial inequities that impact their lives.
MLOV is a leading player in the immigrant rights and justice movement in DC and regularly builds partnerships and coalitions with wide-ranging stakeholders. In addition to nonprofits and community organizations, MLOV works with government officials, agencies, businesses, and worker groups to advance power-building of immigrant communities in DC.
Parent Programs
- Digital Literacy and Job Readiness: Through our cohort-based programs, participants with limited digital skills learn foundational digital literacy skills and soft skills. Participants also receive wrap-around support, including interview prep, individual job coaching, and internship placement through a new sub-program.
- Committed Families Program: through this 8-week program, caregivers of middle school and high school youth learn about the U.S. Education system, options for post-secondary education, advocacy strategies, socio-emotional development, and strategies for supporting their children's education journey. Most participants are caregivers of youth who are enrolled in our youth programming.
- Mom's Circle: a four-week program that provides parenting workshops and serves as a support group for moms of children birth to three years old. Participants also receive diapers and wet wipes on a monthly basis as part of our diaper distribution program.
