Our team is happy to be expanding our youth program offerings in 2024! We are currently recruiting for two upcoming youth programs, our Immigrant Youth Mentorship Program for refugees and asylees ages 15-24 in D.C., and our Summer Youth Program for rising 6th-12th graders in D.C. We hope you, your child, or friend/relative can be part of our programs!
About the Immigrant Youth Mentorship Program
Our Immigrant Youth Mentorship Program provides support and guidance to immigrant youth ages 15-24 as they navigate their new communities and pursue academic and professional success. The program runs virtually for 12 weeks, and students will be eligible for a $300 stipend upon successful completion.
To be eligible for participation, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be 15-24 years old
- Have an ORR-eligible status, such as refugee, asylee, Cuban/Haitian entrant, Unaccompanied Refugee Status, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), or another other ORR-eligible status
- Have lived in the U.S. for 5 years or less
- Live in D.C.
About the Summer Youth Program
MLOV’s Summer Youth Program serves immigrants and children of immigrants. This summer, rising 6th through 12th graders (11-18 years old) will learn the basics of community organizing, focus on life skills for their futures, grow in their cultural and immigrant identities, and gain confidence in their leadership abilities. They will have the chance to build friendships with like-minded youth and go on weekly field trips.
The 5-week program will be held at our office in Columbia Heights from 9:00am-2:00pm, Monday to Friday, from July 8 to August 9, 2024. Students will be eligible for up to a $500 scholarship upon successful completion.
