Lisa Lopez-Escobar

Advocacy Manager

Lisa Lopez-Escobar (LiLo) was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland. She is the proud daughter of Guatemalan immigrants and a first-generation college graduate. She began her career working in after-school programs with Latinx immigrant and newcomer youth, where she developed a deep commitment to creating spaces of belonging, healing, and joy for young people. LiLo has worked with community organizations, think tanks and research centers supporting immigrant communities through education policy, youth leadership development, and community-engaged research. In 2020, she earned her M.A. in Educational Transformation from Georgetown University and will graduate with a PhD in Urban Education at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2025. She is now the Advocacy Manager at MLOV, excited to be working alongside the vibrant DC immigrant community to advance campaigns for language justice.
