Mikel Quintana

Manager of Student Success and Postsecondary Initiatives

Mikel was born in Brooklyn, NY but grew up in many places with family spread out across 4 continents. Growing up within diverse communities and with an internationally dispersed family, it felt natural for him to seek opportunities to live, work and study internationally as well. After high school, he worked with youth from under-resourced communities in Madrid for a year before beginning his studies at Tufts University in International Relations and Cultural Anthropology.

This experience in Madrid, his university studies and programs that included peer mentorship and advising, lead him to his career path working to support young people in their educational and professional journeys. After graduating, Mikel became a fellow at the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village (ASYV) in Rwanda, directly supporting ASYV students through the Career Resources Center. He is excited to bring these experiences and his passion for youth development, college-access advising, career coaching and mentorship within non-profit organizations to MLOV all while continuing to learn and engage with his new students, colleagues and the greater MLOV community.

In his free time, Mikel is an avid fútbol fan, amateur cook and photographer who loves learning, creating and sharing meals, traditions and stories with people from all walks of life.
